Ajax alarm expands smart home capabilities with the release of UK Socket

December 2, 2021 — Ajax Systems, the developer behind one of Europe’s most popular wireless alarm systems with over 1,000,000 users, today held its 3rd Special Event online presentation showcasing new products and features.

Along with security devices like ReX 2 range extender, Hub 2 with a 4G modem, vhfBridge module, MultiTransmitter supporting 2/3EOL, and a whole new range of wired detectors called Fibra, Ajax also announced the release of the UK Socket.

The much-anticipated version of Socket with type G plug will expand home automation capabilities for the UK users of the system.

What is Socket

Socket is a smart plug that provides Ajax alarm users with both security and the wider automation world straight out of the box. Being a part of the Ajax ecosystem, it helps to manage appliances on the go via the Ajax app, monitors their power consumption, and provides protection from power surges.

By using Socket — or other Ajax’s smart home devices like Relay or WallSwitch — in combination with scenarios, users also can program the system to actively resist threats and automate the routines. For example, turn off the lights automatically by arming the system; spotlight trespassers with outdoor lights once they trigger motion detectors; set up home activity simulation with lights and TV; or even install a sustainable anti-flood system that will shut down water upon first signs of leakage.

Socket has an unprecedented wireless communication range: up to 7 times more than that de facto offered by smart home industry providers. The maximum range is up to 1,100 m of bidirectional encrypted communication ensured by Ajax’s proprietary Jeweller radio technology, not Wi-Fi.

New benefits

The device is available in black and white colours. It boasts a new shape — smart, understated, minimalistic and slick — which lets the plug fit into any interior design.

However, UK Socket is not only about appearance. Ajax team has implemented a few features that will make daily use of Type G Socket even more convenient.

Firstly, there’s more control. In addition to switching on/off Socket remotely via the Ajax app, or clicking the Ajax Button anywhere in the house, users will now be able to control the plug using a functional button on it.

The flexibility of the device settings has also been extended. UK Socket has received a customizable overcurrent protection threshold which makes appliances even safer to automate.

Beyond that, the LED brightness of the plug can now be precisely adjusted with a 15-position bar. And the updated energy consumption meter will assist users to track the consumption of different devices or time periods more easily.

Release date

Type G Socket will be stocked in Q1 2022. The price of the device will be officially unveiled closer to the release date.

Socket, as well as other components of the system, can be purchased from Ajax’s official partners in the UK. They sell original products with a manufacturer’s warranty and provide prompt technical assistance.
